10th July and weighing 7lb 10oz.
We welcome him as the newest member of the Idle AC baby club!!
During the first half
of 2004 many club records have been broken as members in all age categories
have continued to race in at variety of distances. It’s great that club records keep being
broken, and members continually get pb’s, as it shows that the hard work that
is put into the Tuesday speed sessions and into the club runs is paying off.
The current club records are:

We intend to publish the Club
records list on the back cover of each edition of Idle Gossip, starting with
the August copy, so that all members have access to it.
The
Next away run is this Thursday!
It’s from the car park opposite the Royalty pub at the top of Otley
Chevin.
If you’d like to run the London
Marathon in 2005 you will need to enter using the official entry form that is
within the official event magazine called Marathon News. This will be available
in all good sports shops in August.
If you have applied to run or have run the event in the
last five years a copy of Marathon News will be sent to you automatically.
Check out the London Marathon Website for details: www.london-marathon.co.uk
Successful and unsuccessful applicants will receive a reply
in early December 04. Anyone who is
unsuccessful in their entry will be eligible for the draw for the club entry
which normally takes place at the Christmas Do.
Idle AC will have at least 2 club entries.
In addition members gain an automatic place under the ‘good
for your age’ system. If within the last 18 months you have run between 2.45
and 3.00 (men aged 18-40) or sub 3.15 (men aged 41-59), you qualify
automatically, and must fill in a different form. Women aged 18-49 need to have
run between 3.15and 3.45 in 2003 or 2004 to qualify automatically.
In
June’s edition of Idle Gossip we gave the results of the Bronte 5 mile race
which included details of the three club records that were broken: Simon Bellwood (M40),
Lisa Flesher (F35) and Kay Gambles (F45).
However we missed one club record, the M45 club record. We therefore congratulate new member Richard lyons who set a new M45 club record in a time of 36.19. Richard is improving each time he runs so he may be challenging for other club records (Steve and Dave beware!!).
It’s great that members are competing with one another for club records and that competition is so strong in a number of age categories, especially in the male category.
We try to spot club records and get them published on the website
and within the Gossip but with the increased membership and the high numbers of
members racing it’s not always possible.
Please therefore let us know if a club record is broken – Davina.
If you like the idea
of fell running and would like to have a go please speak to Chris.
