The Club

Formed in March 2002. Idle A.C. is an active club, which provides regular training opportunities for runners of all abilities through the weekly running nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Club members choose which and how many sessions to attend. There is a positive training ethic, a recognition of the importance of progress, and weekly coached sessions run by qualified coaches. The club has a Committee who meet on a regular basis and an AGM is held every year. We currently have 1 x Level 3, 3 x level 2 and 3 x level 1 qualified coaches in the club.

Club Objectives

To promote the sport of distance running: To support and encourage members at all levels and to be good ambassadors for the sport.

In addition to being affiliated to UK Athletics, Idle A.C. are also affiliated to the North of England Athletic Association. Members can complete in Road, Cross Country and Fell Races. (Minimum age 18 years).

Cross Country

The Club competes in the West Yorkshire Winter League (WYWL) which has five races each year. This is an entry level league with a positive and friendly ethos. It consists of smaller West Yorkshire clubs, and encourages slower runners and those new to the sport, as well as having a competitive "top end". The emphasis, although there are individual awards, is on team participation. Chris Smith, Idle A.C.'s secretary has been co-ordinator of this league for several years, during which time it has become a central part of the running calendar for theparticipating clubs.
