Shake the spiders out of your trail/fell shoes, look for your hat and gloves and thermal top... yes, it's that time of year again.
The 2013/14 X-country season is just about on us. There are now 10 teams competing in the West Yorkshire Winter League. Stadium Runners from Huddersfield were voted into the league at the AGM last week. Apart from that, itís very much business as usual.
There will be five races - the best four will count for individual trophies except for best male and female improvers where all five races will count.
As a way of giving people an incentive to do all five fixtures, the league is looking at awarding a medal or memento to runners who do all the races.
The presentation evening will be held in Baildon, possibly at the Copper Beech.
A slight technical change has been introduced to the way the results for the menís teams are calculated. As before the first 7 runners back will win team points - but from this season, 3 vets will count not 2. The way points are won by the ladiesí teams remains unchanged. All races are 10am start unless otherwise notified.
The all important dates:
The races are all 4 to 5 miles and are followed by refreshments of some kind.
Iíll send out reminders closer to the date of each fixture. This is both an individual and team challenge.
Idle is a small club but we hold our own in the league.Getting mud on an Idle shirt is a badge of honour.
